Exciting plans with Boho Bride

This is just a very quick note!  Sarah and I have been working on these ideas for quite some time and it is very exciting to finally get them out in the open!

I came across Boho Bride shortly after she started her blog and instantly loved her style.  We started emailing and before we knew it, had hatched a plan to write regular guest posts on each others blogs. I am also thrilled to be helping them with their wedding and to co-ordinate everything on the day for them. It will be such a hardship to go to Devon!

Do take a look at my little introduction
http://www.bohobride.co.uk/boho-bride/an-introduction-my-new-contributor-kate-fletcher.html   I still haven't worked out how to condense a link!

While I'm here, I thought I would share the first images Hayley has sent from the photo shoot I have been working on for http://www.vintagestylehire.co.uk/ she was incredible, yet again!

Please get in touch if there is anything I can help you with for your wedding or event this year.  I would be delighted to help.

Vintage Style Hire

I couldn't resist telling you about my new venture any longer.  With slight OCD in ensuring everything is perfect, I wanted to have absolutely everything in place before I spread the word.  I have now decided that the rest can evolve and it's doubtful I will be chastised if my inventory isn't quite complete!

So, here it is Vintage Style Hire www.vintagestylehire.co.uk

My wedding and event planning business has grown over the last few years and has offered a great opportunity to combine my interest in interiors to style weddings and events.  I was finding with each wedding, I would incorporate a little of my 'style' into them and would use some of my 'vintage' pieces.  My husband probably wouldn't refer to some of the pieces as 'vintage' - 'a load of old junk' probably, but if he had trawled the junk shops and internet as much as me, he would realise it is treasure!

So I decided to share this treasure with brides, wedding planners, stylists and photographers to give their weddings, events and photo shoots originality. If you have something in mind, I can happily source it for you.

I offer a bespoke design service to style elements of your wedding such as drinks receptions, desserts tables, guest book tables and lounge areas and can complement the colour and theme of your wedding or special event with stationery, flowers, cakes & sweets.

I am working with some wonderful suppliers who have all been as excited as me about Vintage Style Hire.  I look forward to introducing you to them soon.

I would like to make two special mentions, one to Sarah from Rose & Aster http://www.roseandaster.com/ who is a very special friend and has worked on yet another website for me.  I couldn't have done any of it without her help and support.

and to Hayley from Hayley Ruth Photography http://www.hayleyruthphotography.co.uk/ who has also been incredibly supportive and has got us all excited about the next photo shoot on a country farm.

I would be delighted to chat to you about ideas for your wedding or event or if you have any questions at all, it would be great to hear from you.

I am helping Wonderland Bakery on Stand G49 on Friday at the National Wedding Show so come and see her delicious cakes and say hi!

The ultimate country house party!

I feel like Ruth Watson from the Hotel Inspector. I can be 100% sure that she wouldn't have anything negative to say about The Old Swan & Minster Mill on the River Windrush in the Cotswolds.

I was invited to visit this stunning venue by Amber de Savary who's family are renowned for creating some of the most unique and unforgettable hotel and club experiences around the world including Skibo Castle, Bovey Castle and St James Club internationally.  They took over this venue in May last year and have wasted no time in transforming the reception rooms and all 60 bedrooms.

When we arrived I was met by Amber who checked us in and showed us to our room.  Decorated with stylish fabrics, gorgeous armchairs and tweed cushions, it had all the little touches that make the difference like The White Company products in the bathroom, Blenheim Palace bottles of water and the most gorgeous little glass decanter of Sloe Gin were just a few. Not forgetting a box of eggs from their free range chickens!

Amber then showed me around the beautiful traditional reception rooms which you can hire for special events, ceremonies, parties and wedding receptions. For the ultimate in exclusivity, guests can take sole use of the entire place with only your friends and family around you.  The ultimate country house party!

New for 2011 will be a magnificent Great Hall seating up to 120 guests overlooking the river and leading directly onto the terrace and elegant gardens. Amber showed me the artists impressions of the new building which will be brimming with modern technology, with electricity and heat being generated by the River Windrush providing an almost carbon neutral environment. A raised stone base will extend to incorporate a glass dance floor through which you can view the operating waterwheel beneath.

After our tour, Amber suggested Jonathan and I have a cream tea in the snug by the roaring fire. Generous scones with clotted cream and jam in little cups with fresh berries. Delicious!

After a visit to nearby Burford we had a chance to relax before dinner.

Now for my Michael Winner! It was very difficult to make a choice from the extensive menu, but we were drawn to the specials board.  We both had risotto to start. I had Pumpkin and Jonathan had Wild Mushroom, it was one of the nicest risotto's I've had.  I ordered the very last portion of Venison with a Juniper berry sauce and Jonathan had chargrilled spicy Cajun Chicken. We finished a fabulous bottle of Rioja before deliberating over the dessert menu. Bread & Butter pudding with Apricots and a vanilla custard for me and Jonathan had a Banana & Maple cake with Rum & Raisin ice-cream. It was such a delicious meal.

After a relaxing night and a lovely breakfast we reluctantly checked out. I could have stayed a fortnight! Before I left I had the opportunity to meet Emma Rogers the Wedding & Events Manager who has joined the team from Blenheim Palace.

The attention to detail made our stay very special and I can't recommend it highly enough. Perhaps you live in London and want an exclusive country house party for your wedding? Wherever you live in the country, it really is worth the trip.

I will keep you up to date with the developments of the Great Hall and do let me know if you decide to pay them a visit.

Edible treats

An edible treat for Valentines Day - now that would be nice!  My husband isn't one for cute little gifts, but someone might be lucky enough to get something similar to these gorgeous things.

I say similar, as these are from a company I drool over in the US called My Sweet & Saucy Shop www.sweetandsaucyshop.com based in Long Beach, California.

My Sweet & Saucy is owned by Melody Brandon a pastry chef who has certainly fulfilled her desire to create gorgeous, delicious and modern desserts which taste as good as they look.

Her large cakes are a real work of art and are always styled in beautiful displays, something I am hoping to emulate over here.

Brides Magazine Photo Shoot

Last Friday, one of my Brides-to-be Katie and I went up to London for a photo shoot for 'Brides' magazine.  I obviously can't divulge all the information about the shoot, but it was great fun and amazing to see everyone at work.

Katie and I weren't really sure what to expect, especially when we arrived at the address and found it was the most amazing house in North London.  We thought we had the wrong address until we saw flashes in the window.

When we walked in there was a lot going on.  A photographer taking pictures in the lounge, stylists pressing dresses in the conservatory and down in the basement kitchen, girls were being applied with makeup and having their hair styled.  Just off a film set.

One of the very talented team was professional makeup artist Sarah Brock. She was so friendly and made everyone feel at ease.

Sarah is a multi award winning makeup artist having regularly worked for Brides Magazine as a makeup artist (for the shoots inside the magazine as well as the covers) and also regularly contributes to national magazines and the national press as a makeup/ beauty expert.

Sarah is also the chosen makeup artist to create makeup looks for designer's bridal advertising campaigns, such as Phillipa Lepley, Sassi Holford, Stewart Parvin, Madeline Isaac-James and Rainbow Couture to name a few.

Whilst Sarah does these amazing campaigns, she also works for private clients, so do contact her and she if she is available for your wedding makeup.

I took some photographs whilst I was there, but will save them until after the issue is released.  I believe it is the next issue due out in March, so do look out for Katie - she looked amazing!
